retro-halloween: 2000

This was 10 years ago?!  Wow!  Where does the time go?!  I remember loving this party!  It was such a blast!  A lot of friends from my ward came, and lots of new friends from jr. high
.
allie, kelsey, torrie, ashlee, christine, angie, brooke, heather, emily, jamie, megan, kallie, me

look how young we all were!  I love it!

My favorite part about this party were the awesome invitations my momma made:

1940's Fashion

ok, so I have a huge dilemma...

"The 1940s saw two distinctive styles in women's clothing. From the beginning of World War II in 1939 till the dawn of the New Look in 1947, women's dresses were knee-length and featured padded shoulders - one of the few adornments in clothing that was otherwise simple, thanks to wartime rationing. Sportswear became more common and women used a lot of ingenuity in mixing separates to make a wardrobe seem more diverse than it was. Homemade accessories and elaborate curls allowed women to show their flair without expense or waste. Hats, especially made from fabrics recycled from older pieces, went wild."

I have a murder mystery party to attend this week, and it's a 1940's theme.

What's a girl to wear?!

I thought of wearing something flirty like Marilyn Monroe's style...or even going for the classy look of Jackie O.

All I know is I've gotta get myself some cute little gloves to complete the outfit!  I hope that it will come together and be great!

Any suggestions for me??

single?

ok, i've debated a LOT about whether or not I should blog about something so, lame.
ha!
but I decided that maybe I should get opinions of other people out there, my blogging buddies.

what do ya'll think of ONLINE DATING

?
?
?
?

Seriously, what do you think?  Maybe I just have a serious case of the Monday blues, but I am thinking that I am ready to get back into 'dating' like really get back into the dating.
I feel like I am at a great point in my life where I could be a great girlfriend.
I'm loving school, lovin' my church calling, loving my life, but I feel like something is missing.

yes, i've thought of a mission.
yes, i've thought of more schooling.
yes, i've thought of going out of the country to serve others.
yes, i'm working full time.
yes, i'm going to school.
yes, I am a busy lady.
but....that doesn't mean I don't want someone to share my happiness with.
share my joy.
share my life with.

maybe I am a hopeless romantic.
but i don't think i'm hopeless.

I think there is hope.
that there is that one man out there in this big world who would make me happy.
I believe in true love.
I believe in happily ever after.
I believe that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
I believe there is someone out there who is waiting for me.

I also believe that there is a greater plan for me.
I know that I am where I am supposed to be right now in my life.
I know the trials I've gone through the past year have molded me into the woman I am today.
Not many know, but I've been to hell and back the past year.
I've learned so much on this painful journey the past year.
And I wouldn't trade my past year experiences for anything in the world.

I am who I am today because of the choices I made yesterday.
I have become a better version of myself.

and I now feel that it is time for me to get back into the dating world.
so, as I asked before, what do you think of online dating?

Is it worth giving it a go?
Should I try it?

I know there are a lot of creepers out there in the world, but I also feel that there are some great guys out there that are yet to be met. (does that even make sense? oh well)

and don't think I'm becoming desperate because I'm getting "older"
I am not getting older.
I am an independent woman who is looking for something more in her life.
Something more fulfilling.
I've already got the gospel of Jesus Christ in my life.
I've got a great job.
Great friends.
an Amazing FAMILY.
An awesome internship.
I'm so blessed.
and I am not trying to complain.

I am just seeking something more.  I want to be someone's. I want to know that I make someone's world go round.  I want to love someone with all my heart.

ok, thanks for listening to me ramble.

{general relief society meeting - september 2010}

General Relief Society Meeting
September 2010

The girls went to SLC to the conference center.
We had 11th row tickets.
It was AMAZING.
we were so close to the prophet and his counselors.
It was such a neat meeting, such a great experience
for all of us to go. my nana said that
"this is just like heaven. all of my girls are with me"
i concur nana.  it was such a fun night.

after the meeting, we walked around temple square for a bit then we headed over to the joseph smith building and ate dinner at The Roof.

there were some fights about the creme brulee. and over the lion house rolls.  what can i say?  the brown girls love our CARBS

cool beans

I made this.
how cool, eh?
all I did was take a trip to the local DI store.
went to the "collectibles" section.
found this lovely broach.
purchased.
added a gold necklace chain.

{VOILA}

I have myself a splendid new necklace.
its so vintage-y looking.
so cute.

the best part?
when my mom told me that an old grandma probably died,
and her family went through her things and decided to give this to the DI.
great.

thanks mommacita.

general conference (part 2)

My favorite grotes{friends} and I had the chance to go to the Sunday afternoon session of the October General Conference.  We had a great time on the drive up.  We took lots of pictures, laughed, sang, and even shed a tear or two.

What a blessing it is to have prophets of God on the earth today!
I know I shouldn't have favorites, but I do.  I loved Elder Holland's talk he gave on Saturday morning.  I also just love President Uchtdof.  What truly inspiring men we have leading the restored church today!  If you missed a session, or just wanna re-listen to the talks check them out: http://www.lds.org/

General Conference - October 2010

The first weekend in October, members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints gather to hear the words of the Prophet, the General Authorities and other leadership of the church at General Conference. Conference is held at the Conference Center on Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah.

I am so looking forward to this weekend.  I just love hearing from our Prophet and the other leaders of the church.  We are so blessed to have living prophets and apostles on the earth today.  If you're interested in hearing the messages these wise men and women share, you're welcome to watch Conference online at www.lds.org.

Have a HAPPY CONFERENCE WEEKEND my sweet blogging friends!
