why do you blog?

i had someone ask me the other day what inspires me to blog?
well my answer for you, is that i blog because i feel like it.
blogging is my equivalent to going and seeing a therapist.
i have to talk out my feelings (usually with myself) and i know that i am usually not the only person who deals with feelings of this magnitude (whatever the situation may be)

today i was reading one of my favorite blogs, Stephanie and Such, (shout out) and she
had blogged about a blind date gone horribly wrong. AMEN sistah.   i think we can all relate to a terrible blind date story.

i just love blogging.  i have met so many friends via blogging that i wouldn't have
had the opportunity to do so in any other situation.

i had a friend, from blog land, Shay, write me and mail me a card a few months back
when i was having a really difficult time and really down.  it totally made my day and
let me know that i am loved by friends who care.

another friend, Gentri, has emailed me countless times, especially while i've been
figuring out my stomach issues, and has been so sweet to me.

blogging is just a wonderful thing people.
i am looking for GUEST BLOGGERS.

more specifically, anyone who wants to share their story of why they created their blog,
why they chose a specific theme to their blog, your favorite thing to blog about, stories about friends you've made while blogging, a blogger who inspires you, etc.

basically, there is no wrong or right answer.
i just want to know what you love about the blog world.

you can include photos, music (yes please!), just about anything you want.
i just want to hear from YOU (my awesome followers) and get a feel for
why you blog.

So, if you're interested in being a featured guest blogger on All Things Ashley, please send me an email: ashley(dot)warner88@gmail(dot)com

I hope you're having a great Friday and are looking forward to yet another lucious FALL weather weekend.  I know I am.

randomonium

I got tagged in a blog game by the lovely Ashley from Sloanbook
basically all ya do is tell the blog world 7 random facts about yourself.

1. i am about 95% gluten free in my diet.  I get sick from foodies really easily, so I try to be super healthy and eat no gluten...yup, I'm a GF gal!

2. i have an obsession with music.  Country, R&B, opera, indie, classical, hip-hop, electronica, rock, punk, rap, etc....you get the picture.  I just love music.  I think I sometimes spend more money in the iTunes store than I do on my groceries for the month (kidding...its not THAT bad)

3. i am a fluent Spanish speaker (and no, I'm not from Mexico...even though I lived there before)

4. i am a sucker for any DIY project...In fact, look at this lamp I made last weekend...

5. i am addicted to any of the Chex cereals (all gluten free baby) and I may or may not eat them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner on, lets say, a bi-weekly basis.

6. i once drank gasoline when I was a little girl.  the ambulance came and got me and i had to have my stomach pumped.  true story.  now that explains a lot, huh?

7. i am all about halloween - i love scary movies, dressing up, the treats, etc.  halloween is one of my favorite holidays.

now i tag you lovely ladies to play this little game

amy

enjoy!

listen to the wind blow...

So, I got an email from Gentri last night and I am getting oh so excited for the blogger meet up!
Life has been such a whirlwind as of late and I have been crazy busy, but I am looking forward to the next few weeks.

Life is like, SO TOTALLY GREAT right now.
for starters, I am feeling almost 100% better and recovered from my minor surgery.
i have had a crazy insane busy week at work (hello 12-14 hour days)
i have been working out like a mad woman and droppin dem lbs
i have a great friend who is coming for a week-long visit next week and i cannot wait for him to get here

asking for forgiveness from has been on my mind a lot.
its hard to do, but it IS possible ya'll. (or so i've convinced myself)

Matthew 18: 21-22

"Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven timse?  Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven"

I need to ask for forgiveness from a certain person, but I have been so prideful.
sometimes its hard to swallow your pride and become humble.

ohhh man, life is such a great process my dear friends.

in other news, what's a girl to do when someone from out of state is coming to visit.
i need some advice from my utah peeps...what are some fun things to do with people who
come visit from out of town?

cool restaurants?
cool parks?
things to do?
things to see?

HELP me, PLEASE

(oh, and PS...does ANYONE know where the title of my post comes from??)

come to Jesus

yes, I have had a few collective "come to Jesus" moments over the past few weeks.
there have been several things in my life that i have been pondering and thinking about the past little bit.  life is tough sometimes, dontcha know?  but i am one lucky and very blessed gal.

- i realized i can't control everything in my life - guess what?  it's OK to admit that.
- i realized that it may be another 10 years before i meet 'the one' and it's OK to admit that too.
- i realized my health is of extreme importance and that i've taken my health for granted.
- i realized life is too short and fragile and that i need to embrace it.
- i realized that people come and go from your life, and when they walk out of your life they have taken a piece of you, but they've also left the best piece of themselves.
- i realized i am the master of my fate and the captain of my soul, corny, but i don't care.
- i realized that i don't need a man in my life to have a fulfilling life.
- i realized that i need to life for the moment and stop "planning" for future events.

i realized that i am human.  flawed. imperfect. loving life. i am pretty.  i am a daughter of a Heavenly Father who loves me.  i am capable of forgiving.  capable of loving.  capable of being honest.  capable of swallowing my pride.  i have learned so much about myself in the last little bit and i am happy with it all.

i can honestly say, that for the first time, in a long time, that i am HAPPY with every little thing going on in my life.

Life may not always be great, but it's finding joy along the way that makes me happiest.  i am living for today and making it count.  life is so great, dear friends.

john mayer said it best,

"pain throws your heart to the ground.
love turns the whole thing around.
no it won't all go the way it should,
but i know the heart of life is good"

week. end.

my weekend consisted of pretty much nada.
we'll skip the work part of  friday, because it's boring.

friday evening:
i watched the movie soul surfer with some peeps.
ate a cookie dough blizzard from dairy queen.
went to bed early (due to tummy ache).

saturday:
i slept in until 9:30 am.
walked around the condo for a bit enjoying my slow-pace day.
did my laundry.
cleaned up the joint a bit.
went to gap and had a little too much fun (40% off hellooooo).
layed around the condo and basked in my laziness.
enjoyed some pumpkin bread and so did my tummy ache.
watched country strong with ms. taecee.
cried while watching country strong.
listening to the music from country strong whilst getting ready for the BYU football party.
attended the football party and ate delish food.
flirted with cute guys at the football party.
giggled a lot.
drove to the sweet tooth fairy and got a little treat.
went to walmart and played BINGO with the beautiful people there.
crashed on the couch and watched glee.
went to bed by 11:00 pm.
yes, 11 pm bedtime because church starts at 8:30 am people.

sunday:

church at 8:30 am.
sat by cuties in the ward.
flirted with said cuties in sunday school.
chatted it up with cuties after church.
gabbed with roomie about how cute said cuties are.
drank gatorade.
went to the parents house to watch CES fireside.
chatted with parents about said cuties.
drove home and chatted with miss t.
listened to some classical Tchaikovsky.
now i am blogging.

woo hoo.
this was how my weekend went. boring, yet eventful at the same time.
hope your weekend was swell.
i had a grand ole time.

good times, good times.

this is not a 'woe-is-me' post.
this is just a post for those i need to apologize to.
first of all, i am sorry that i haven't gotten on the ball and posted my September sponsors.
due to some extreme circumstances, i haven't been posting much at all.

i moved.
i've been in and out of the ER.
i just have no energy to post or blog.

so please forgive me.
i will honor all those that emailed me about being a sponsor and get those up asap.

sometimes life is just crazy.  and i accept that.

here's to my crazy (and fun) life.

hope all is well.

Tuesday, September 6, 2011

it was labor day weekend...

went to see CAPTAIN AMERICA

went to FHE with the new ward and had a fun activity.
we did a little IRON CHEF competition you see.
we were given a baggie full of flour, sugar, and white rasins.
we had to come up with something delish and clever.

so my group of peeps made blondies (not pictured...)
and we WON the competition.
yeah baby!

the baby sis came to the condo and had a sleepover too.
we watched:

our brother who is serving an LDS mission will be home oh so very soon!
He's been living in Lithuania for almost 2 years teaching the people

He comes home in 8 weeks.  eeeek.
i am ecstatic.
wanna see my cute brother?

(this was from the NYC trip before his 2 year 'vacation' to Lituania)

How was YOUR Labor Day weekend??
