as I was driving to get my 32 oz. cherry coke (mmm delish) this song came on the radio, on my country radio station nonetheless, I heard this song by Miss Carrie Underwood "Temporary Home"
The last part of the lyrics about the old man reminded me of my grandpa and the tears just started flowing. Take the 5:01 minutes out of your day to listen to this song.
Life is too short to not embrace the ones you love, take a minute to help others out, or to be kind to a complete stranger.
"My Temporary Home"
Little boy, 6 years old
A little too used to bein' alone.
Another new mom and dad, another school,
Another house that'll never be home.
When people ask him how he likes this place...
He looks up and says, with a smile upon his face,
This is my temporary home
It's not where I belong.
Windows and rooms that I'm passin' through.
This is just a stop, on the way to where I'm going.
I'm not afraid because I know this is my
Temporary Home
Young mom on her own.
She needs a little help, got nowhere to go.
She's lookin' for a job, lookin' for a way out,
Because a half-way house will never be a home.
At night she whispers to her baby girl,
"Someday we'll find our place here in this world."
This is our temporary home.
It's not where we belong.
Windows and rooms that we're passin' through.
This is just a stop, on the way to where we're going.
I'm not afraid because I know this is our
Temporary Home.
Old man, hospital bed,
The room is filled with people he loves.
And he whispers don't cry for me,
I'll see you all someday.
He looks up and says, "I can see God's face."
"This is my temporary Home
It's not where I belong.
Windows and rooms that I'm passin' through.
This was just a stop,on the way to where I'm going.
I'm not afraid because I know... this was
My temporary home."
This is our temporary home.

I've seen this similar idea around the blogging world and I thought it would be fun to head this up.

I wanted to celebrate what remarkable people we are.
Monday is a time to start the week over.
To rejuvinate and have a clean slate.
why not start out with sharing some GOOD THINGS about yourself, huh?
Keep your eyes peeled for the MEET ME MONDAY every Monday, here.
If you'd like to participate, go ahead and snag the little photo. (courtesy of moi)
today:
1 - I am a hilarious human being. I am always doing things to make others (well, mostly me) laugh
2 - I consider myself to be a very driven individual
3 - today I am in love with my outfit and how I did my hair (can you say Farrah Fauwcett)
4 - today I got a compliment from a random lady at the post office (smile)

planning

All of the family had been sitting with him the entire day.
I got the chance to hold my grandpa's hand while he was sleeping peacefully in his hospital bed.
It was a tender moment and I am so thankful I was there with him.
Yesterday I spent the day up in Layton with my grandma and my aunts.
We helped Grandma plan the funeral yesterday.I never knew how much effort and work (and talk about MONEY) goes into
planning a funeral. We started off the morning by helping grandma write the obituary.
Next we planned the funeral service.
Then off to the mortuary we went.
We discussed all of the plans from the coffin (which grandpa had already bought and paid for)
to the program, to the flowers.
It was another tough day, but I think it's finally starting to sink in more and more.
My grandma asked ME if I would speak at the funeral service.
I have NEVER spoken at a funeral before and I am slightly nervous about it.
I hope I can make grandpa proud by what I say.
Have you ever spoken at a funeral? Any suggestions?!
