fathers day 2009

Look at this cute idea for Father's Day! Since I am stuck at home sick today, I thought I would look for something creative to do in my sickness... Since Father's Day is upon us, this looks like a cute, and easy thing to make dad! I had a hard time finding this example on pebbles.com - so I found this other blog that gives you SHIRT FOLDING INSTRUCTIONS: (http://marielovestostamp.blogspot.com/2007/06/shirt-folding-tutorial.html)

Good luck, and Happy Father's Day!

efy - june 2009

Juliet and I

Love these girls - we became really good friends!

Brit and I

Although I had such a blast with my youth during my first week of EFY - I had the opportunity to grow close to these two fabulous ladies! Such great girls and examples! (they're single fellas...)

Juliet
was my roommate for the week! She is such a fun girl with a great sense of humor, I loved staying up late (later than we should have...) talking about boys, life, and facebook stalking! She got so sick during the week, but you would've hardly known - she was such a trooper and always looking out for everyone.

Britney is such a doll! She is going on a mission to Rochester, New York - more specifically the Hill Cumorah Visitor Center! I am so excited for her! She is such a fun, outgoing girl who made everyone in our group feel welcome! BLESSINGS!

Our signature "move" throughout the week was our "Single Ladies" dance we would do all around campus. For those of you not familiar with this dance move, we stole our idea from the Beyonce music video for "Single Ladies". We had fun singing and dancing all over BYU campus! No wonder so many BYU students dislike having EFY during the summer - the annoying counselors who go around singing, "All the single ladies, all the single ladies --- whoah oh oh uh uh oh!"

I was so nervous about my first week, but I was so blessed to be given such great co-counselors and friends. I am one blessed girl - I am always looked out for! :)

More than the World

Purple skies. Hazel eyes. Fireflies. New horizons.
In the spring grey turns green, hope once dead is brought to life.
Shady tree, shoes in hand, with my bare feet in the sand.
Spanish poems, skipping stones, the dusty road that takes me home.

People have told me how to be happy, but I find their remedies empty.
These are my pearls, God's treasures unfurled, mean more to this girl, more than the world, to me.

Photographs from the past, summer nap time in the grass
Constellations in the sky, northern lights will make you cry.

People have told me how to be happy, but I find their remedies empty.
These are my pearls, God's treasures unfurled, mean more to this girl, more than the world, to me.

Grant me twenty thousand wishes, cover me with lavish things, but
I believe in loaves and fishes, miracles, and mustard seeds.

People have told me how to be happy, but I find their remedies empty
These are my pearls, God's treasures unfurled, mean more to this girl
More than the world, to me.

Purple skies. Hazel Eyes. Fireflies.

Ah, behold the power of music. This song comes from the 2009 EFY "Be Thou an Example" CD. It is one of my favorite songs at the moment - such a great reminder of what truly matters in life. :)

Alexandria's Baptism

Elder Allen Warner

Allen opened up his mission call on June 5, 2009. I was at EFY during the week, so I was unable to be there in person for the actual call, but Allen did call me as he was reading the call. As soon as he read where he was going, I felt the spirit and KNEW that he is supposed to be serving in the Baltic mission!!
Oh ya, for those who don't know, Allen has been called to serve in the BALTIC MISSION (Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia) and he will be speaking Lithuanian. He reports to the MTC on October 21, 2009. I am so proud of him and I am so excited!! He is going to be a great missionary!!!

"I can't believe it!" - Mom

Steve, Lisa, Grandma, and mom all re-reading the call

be an example of the believers

be-lieve: –verb (used without object) 1. to have confidence in the truth, the existence, or the reliability of something, although without absolute proof that one is right in doing so: Only if one believes in something can one act purposefully.

"Let no man despise thy youth; but be an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity" 1 Timothy 4:12

I have had the grand opportunity to be at EFY this week working as a counselor. What an experience it has been thus far! I have been able to witness the hand of the Lord in the lives of friends, teenagers, and also in myself. Its given me a new appreciation for the gospel, my testimony, my Savior, and the Plan of Salvation. (www.lds.org)

I have been able to make some great new friends, whom I love dearly, and I've also been able to witness the gospel change lives. How lucky am I! :)

The church is true...really, it is!!!

broken cell phone

As everyone knows, I am clumsy. And my personal effects (ipod, car, phone, laptop, keys, shoes, clothing, friends, body limbs, scriptures, water bottles, photos, etc) are not exempt/safe from the klutz in me! Yesterday I dropped my phone on the tile floor. It broke IN HALF.

My world paused (temporarily) when I realized my phone was beyond repair.

Anyway, to be quite frank, my new cell phone will arrive in the mail on Wednesday! Making me a very happy girl! Until then, I am just gonna have to deal with all this freedom I have!

(Going wireless for a few days is very liberating! Try it some time!)

Princess Tea Party

Allie being a true Cinderella - cleaning the house before the big party!

All of the princesses in attendance

Painting the royal nails...beautiful, darling!

Sisters! Belle and Cinderella

Little Miss Allie turned 8 years old on May 21st! We had a fun little tea party for her special day with lots of pretty princesses. I was lucky enough to be the 'guest of honor'... :) I dressed up like Belle from Beauty and the Beast. Golden ball gown and all. It was quite the exciting day. We had a lesson on proper table manners - how to drink your 'tea' (sprite/rootbeer) correctly, how to sit up properly, how to eat your meal dainty, and how to walk like a princess. We also painted the girls nails and did their makeup (just glitter dust...no worries!)

All in all we had a fun party - Allie said, "this was the best party of my whole life!" That was enough for me! hehe HAPPY BIRTHDAY baby sister! Love you!

Spring Break part Deux

Kenrik, Ash, and Dad before we began the hike up Angels Landing

ZION NATIONAL PARK

Yes, it's true - we went on TWO spring break vacations this year! :)

The second time around, we wised up and went to St. George! We went down with the Gibson family - and we rented out a gorgeous home down in "The Ledges" for 4 days and 3 nights.

Our vacation consisted of eating muddy buddies (thanks Allen), swimming, laying out, eating otter pops, more swimming, movie marathons, as well as a day trip to Zion National Park! Allen, Kendrik, dad, and I all hiked up to Angels landing - which was a lot of fun!

We enjoyed our trip and will look forward to making it back down there again in the near future!
